SUONI E SEGNI DI VAIA

The storm told by sounds, videos and photographs
10/10/2024 - 31/10/2024
From Thursday, October 10 in the exhibition spaces of Villa Gingerò at Lacco Ameno, an exciting exhibition of sounds, videos and photographs to tell the impact of the climate crisis on territories and communities.

A project with a strong emotional impact to reflect on the relationship between man, nature and climate crisis.
“Suoni e Segni di Vaia” is an initiative that comes from the collaboration between the Municipality of Lacco Ameno, the Circle Georges Sadoul of Ischia, the Italian Institute for Philosophical Studies and METS – Museo Etnografico Trentino San Michele.
The exhibition is a journey of sensory and visual exploration of “Storm Vaia”, climatic event that in October 2018 involved a large alpine area: Wind gusts of 100 to 200 km/h and heavy rains have caused the fall of millions of trees, devastating tens of thousands of hectares of coniferous forests. A natural disaster that has once again made clear in our country the impact of global climate change on territories and communities.

Born from an idea of the architect Claudio Lucchin to solicit a capacity of more conscious listening towards environmental issues and tune our “lifestyle” with the most natural needs of the planet, “Sounds and Signs of Vaia” Arrives in the municipality of Lacco Ameno after the positive experiences of METS, Forlì and Rome. A particularly original and immersive installation, structured in three moments: a photographic exhibition by Roberto Besana on the places that have suffered the fury of the storm; a video, “The unspeakable language of nature”, conceived and realized by Roberto Besana and Davide Grecchi with texts by Mimmo Sorrentino on the relationship between man and nature; an audio “Sounds of Vaia”, by Elisa Pisetta and Cristian Postal that, In addition to the testimonies of those who experienced that tragedy that has profoundly changed the morphology of the territories, offers the visitor a unique “sensory experience”, being able to listen for more than 15 minutes, inside a dark room, the sounds of nature as the wind blows at over 200km/h.
