SPEGNETE SEMPRE LE LUCI

Libere riflessioni intorno alla figura di Angelo Rizzoli
06/09/2024 - 06/09/2024
On Friday, September 6, in the gardens of the museum complex of Lacco Ameno, Giuseppe Iacono will be the protagonist of a show-tribute to the figure of the tycoon who in a few years turned the green island into a sought-after destination for luxury tourism.

“Spegnete sempre le luci. Libere riflessioni intorno alla figura di Angelo Rizzoli” is written, directed and performed by Giuseppe Iacono. Produced by Bastoni tra le ruote for the Municipality of Lacco Ameno, director’s assistant by Luigi Boccanfuso, set design by Claudio Cappello, audio and lighting by Francesco Rando.

The extraordinary parable of a man who, starting from nowhere, orphaned before he was born and very poor, found the opportunity to redeem himself thanks to an entrepreneurial adventure that would leave an indelible mark on society and culture of the twentieth century. All the charm, turbulence, energy and tearing contradictions of a century embodied in the figure of Angelo Rizzoli, protagonist of a dense and compelling text that will be brought to the stage by its author, director and actor Giuseppe Iacono, on Friday 6 September at 9:00pm in the park of Villa Arbusto in Lacco Ameno.

“Spegnete sempre le luci. Libere riflessioni intorno alla figura di Angelo Rizzoli” is a show, in the form of a monologue, which retraces the stages of the prodigious ride, public and private, of the founder of an editorial and film empire, as well as a key figure, starting from the 50s, of a tourist revival of the Island of Ischia without precedent nor epigoni.
A recital on the complex rebus of Rizzoli’s personality, which to paraphrase the writer Oriana Fallaci, “was not one person: it was ten, a hundred people intertwined together, a mosaic of inconsistencies, a maze of possibilities”.
“Always turn off the lights” produced by ‘Sticks between the wheels’ sides the public epic of the tycoon with musical moments, reflections and personal suggestions that the Ischitan Giuseppe Iacono leads back to that process of social transformation, as well as economic, of his own land, triggered by the intuition of the brilliant and enterprising “cumenda” Milanese more than 70 years ago. A lost centrality, but continually pursued and remembered with nostalgia.

The show is part of the “Omaggio ad Angelo Rizzoli” and inserted in the Metropolitan Events Poster and the “E-state together with Lacco Ameno” Program.

Free entry, but by reservation calling 081 99 61 03 every day from 9:00 to 13:00.
